Script:

Reflection on doing another’s script at site: I really enjoyed this excise as it allowed me to view Fort Lane in a different light. I was able to zone in on smaller details of the space making it easier to unpack the the full site. The script I was given was actually a little unclear on its instructions as it told me to close my eyes and think about everything at once and then open my eyes and find the closest exit. I found it a little short and vague but did it to my best understands of it.
Context Talk notes:
5 Key words & 50 words describing them in relation to site:
- Reflection:
- To me reflection means to mirror, copy, or contemplate. I found that reflection was everywhere in Auckland city, in the building windows, puddles, lights, cars, quite, peace, noise and even other pedestrians. Reflectivity is technically recognised as the return of light and sound waves from a surface. The action of bending or folding back. Reflectivity will be used as the core element to my design and will help bring my other key words into perspective. I will be using it in a way of extending and lengthening the space
- Disorientation
- Disorientation is the state of confusing or loosing direction. It can be used in a negative or positive manner depending on the circumstances and whether it is difficult to find your way back. In a creativity manner it can be good as it leads you into an endless exploration zone but geological not so good as become lost can make you vulnerable to deep emotions and frustration. Through my use of reflection I am hoping for visitors to the space feel a scene of freeing disorientation from regular routine.
- Iridescence
- Iridescence is the showing of luminous colours that seem to change when seen from different angles. This occurs more commonly in water, bubbles and gemstones. I would love to great this effect through the various use of coloured and tinted materials and hope that the reflection and movement of space will result in iridescence surfaces
- Assemblage
- Is assemblage as a collection, montage or gathering of things. The items assembling can be abstract or physical like memories, people, materials and time. I would like to focus on the assembly of time and reflection. Through the use of mirrors creating an endless interior space I would like there to be an assemblage of time all coming together to become irrelevant during the experience of the installation. I am also aiming for an assemblage of reflection that becomes so repetitive that within the assembly of it you aren’t able to distinguish what is real and what isn’t
- Spectrum
- I understand spectrum as being band of colours, as seen in a rainbow. Technically this can be produced by the separation of the components of light by their different degrees of refraction according to wavelength. This is the type of atmosphere I am looking to capture through my use of materials and surfaces in my installation
