After receiving last weeks feedback I decided to come up with a new idea that continues to use the same material and canopy but in a different manner.
Sue suggested placing it on ground level to make it more interactive so I decided to move it down to floor level and see how that would look. Below is some photos I took in Rihno of the changes.
I really loved the detail of how the wave disappeared into the ground and then popped back up again. It reminded me of how music fades in and out of the space. To make this more interactive with the viewer I thought about how I could potentially explained it bigger and have the wave weave through the space like a snake or a ribbon in the wind. this will create a maze like appearance with small social alcoves under the wave. I will have the disc underneath the structure still with dim spot lights shining up to create the mosaic light pattern on the floor. This will create lots of small pockets of colour down the space. I am also thinking that the tops of the wave that meet the side of the building could be used as a balcony/platform for people inside of the building to come out on to for a breather, personal space or to observe the below Lane.
I wasn’t too sure on how to model this in Rihno quickly as it would take me a while to show the idea so I did a few small sketches to outline the idea.
I then pitched this new idea to Sue in our 1:1 session. She thought the idea might be too big and that I should reconfigure the curve wave forms as a series of rooms/platforms which house a series of events. From their I will then be able to refine my projects programme. I wasn’t too drawn to this idea as it meant I would be losing the sound wave shape and concept from the wave. I am also struggling to see how I could include the use of cds.
Example diagram/drawing sure gave me in our 1:1

Sue recommend that I start modelling different wave forms to get an idea of how the platforms would look and could be occupied. I decided to use Aluminium foil to do this. Below are some images I took of the models.
